What Delilah Did is the work of me, Sophie Simpson (aka Delilah), perpetual dreamer and purveyor of extraordinary things.

I am a mildly eccentric girl with old-fashioned values and a rather overactive imagination, living in a sleepy village in Norfolk, England. My main obsessions are period dramas, folk music, baking and any craft involving fabric, yarn or thread. Basically if a granny likes to do it then I probably do too.

As you can no doubt already tell, I am particularly fond of cross stitch. Not the kind of cross stitch that you see in most craft shops, but a sort of amalgamation of antique heirloom embroidery and modern design. I have found it to be the most calming and lovely of all crafts and I am absolutely addicted to it. However when I began I couldn't find any designs I wanted to stitch so I started to make my own.

Things have sort of snowballed since then and I am now a full time designer/stitcher/author/tedious-businessy-type-chores-doer, which suits me rather perfectly. I make pretty needlework patterns and kits, write my own books filled with magical projects and stories, and sometimes also freelance as a contributor for different publications such as Mollie Makes and an assortment of other craft books. My aim is to inspire you to make something lovely with your hands; something that will spark your imagination and prettify your surroundings and make you proud to display it.
